Dental work

Lilian had her first trip to the dentist yesterday. Luckily she continues in the same line of thinking set by her older siblings...that going to the dentist is awesome fun and something to be looked forward to. {It helps that we have AMAZING dentists...a family practice.} She climbed up into the big chair and immediately popped her mouth open so wide you'd think she had hinges in her jaw. When all was said and done, she had earned the privilege to have her picture taken for the "No Cavities Club" bulletin board...and was SO good that the dentist determined she deserved TWO prizes from the treasure chest. She was, as you can imagine, thrilled. And already asking when she can go back.

In other dentist related news....it was determined that Rebekah needed some dental intervention to straighten out a couple of her front teeth. And seeing as it was all cosmetic, no overbite or jaw issues, we decided a retainer, rather than braces would do the job nicely. {Especially seeing as the thought of having braces going into high school filled Rebekah with horror...}

She doesn't love the way it looks. She was bound and determined to make sure that she had a cute outfit and hairdo for that first day...so as to hopefully cancel out the NOT so cute retainer. Apparently metal in your mouth is not a sought after accessory for teenage girls. I've had a hard time getting her to pose for pictures....she's afraid I'll stick them on the blog. {Gee...I wonder why she'd think that?} But when I told her we needed the shots for posterity {begging and pleading was involved} she agreed I could throw on a few pics I'd sneakily taken when she didn't realize I had the camera in hand.See? Beautiful as ever. And after wearing the retainer 24/7 for the next few months, she'll be wearing it only at night by the time school starts in the fall. Perfect timing.

And you want to know why she is smiling in the bottom picture??? Because she was making me look all kinds of silly on the ipad. Small head. Swirly face. You name it. It was pretty funny.
