Prom 2015

Friends for years, always in shows together, and consistently in an on-again-off-again sort of relationship romantically....by the time Prom rolled around, Julianne and Lance were on again. Partly to do with the fact that not only did they always seem to be attracted to each other and so comfortable with each other, but also because they were in the midst of rehearsals for Thoroughly Modern Millie at CentreStage Theatre where the two of the them played the romantic leads, Jimmy and Millie. In fact, it was during a rehearsal that Lance snuck outside to fill Julianne's car with balloons to ask her to Prom (after nicking the car key from out of her backpack).

Julianne was delighted when their day date was a field trip to the Hogle Zoo. She hadn't been in years and said it was the best fun wandering around the zoo as an older teenager with a bunch of friends..a very different experience from when she was a young child there with her parents.

Rebekah was home from college for the weekend and helped her little sister get ready for the big night...

When I answered the door Prom night, standing on the doorstep was Lance with his arms full of flowers. A corsage for Julianne, of course, but then also a bouquet of flowers that he politely and sweetly handed to me as a thank you for allowing him to take my daughter to the dance that night. I was completely taken aback and all I could think of was, WINNER!

They had dinner at The Garden Restaurant at the top of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building and then headed to the dance the State Capitol Building.

Interestingly enough, because Julianne is on the Junior Committee at school and they were in charge of planning and hosting Prom, Bryan and I got the opportunity to chaperone. Which meant a few things.
1) We got to see Julianne, Lance and their group at the actual dance which I'd obviously never done before. Julianne let us take pictures of her and didn't even seem embarrassed. ;)
2) We were able to people watch to our heart's content as we took in all the Prom fashions and finery.
3) We had the opportunity to re-live a whole lot of our own high school memories seeing as our first date back in 1990 was to the Junior Prom.
